The new committee members are settling into their positions very efficiently.
President Noel and wife Coral are at present enjoying the spectacular sights of Canada in Autumn. However, before leaving he was reminded to remember to drive on the "wrong side of the road ".
Meanwhile work is continuing on Somerton and the branch line. Thanks to the expertise and diligence of Frank and Gordon they have resolved a very complicated problem with the computer controlling Somerton. Glenn Buchman has been working solidly on correcting problems with the sets of points on the layout and seems to have been successful in his efforts. Glenn has also been fine tuning the signals on both layouts in conjunction with his installation of a realistic staff system on the branch line.
For the uninitiated this mirrors the prototype operations on the ‘real’ railway, meaning that a staff /token must be inserted in a given point to enable a train to go past that point. This prevents the chance of two trains being on the same stretch of track at any given time.
Kevin and Greg are also busy exchanging some of the buildings and scenery after it was decided by the committee they were no longer required. And of course yours truly continues with the never ending task of ballasting the trackwork.
Club members are looking forward to the annual visit of members of the Hastings/Port Macquarie group next month. These chaps always bring a few new ideas with them, so they are very welcome.
The committee and members offer a very warm welcome to a visit from anyone wanting to learn more of our hobby. Our club rooms are in the old rail freight depot in Manning street every Wednesday and Saturday.
