A timber bridge collapsed in Coopernook State Forest last week (Wednesday September 20) when damage was caused by a Forestry Corporation vehicle.

The bridge is on Forest Road, which is the main road in from the Pacific Highway at South Moorland into the Forest Headquarters Camping Ground in Coopernook State Forest.
“We are aware that a forestry contractor did drive over a bridge which caused damage to the bridge,” said Midcoast Council’s Daniel Park, Manager Operations North.
“In view of the circumstances the forestry corporation, in consultation with council, made arrangements to bypass the site via a close nearby route whilst repair works are being undertaken.
“There is minimal impact to the travelling public taking into consideration that the road is located within a forestry area,” he said.
