Demi Lovato has said she does not "owe" fans an explanation of her sexuality, after she was criticised by an article published in the Huffington Post for not revealing it.
The former Disney star took to Twitter on Thursday to criticise the article, which was titled, "Demi Lovato's Reason For Refusing To Talk About Her Sexuality Is Total Bulls**t."
The article was published in response to Lovato's recent interview with LGBT news website PrideSource, in which she said she did not want to talk about her sexuality because she believed it was "irrelevant" to her music and she did not want to give any news organisation the scoop on such a personal issue.
"If you're that curious about my sexuality, watch my documentary. But I don't owe anybody anything," Lovato tweeted. "Just because I'm refuse [sic] to label myself for the sake of a headline doesn't mean I'm not going to stand up for what I believe in."

Lovato's sexuality found its way into the news cycle last month, when she was photographed holding hands with a woman at Disneyland.
In her PrideSource interview, Lovato, who has previously been romantically linked to That '70s Show's Wilmer Valderrama, expressed an uneasiness with speaking about her personal life.
"I just feel like everyone's always looking for a headline and they always want their magazine or TV show or whatever to be the one to break what my sexuality is," Lovato said.
"I feel like it's irrelevant to what my music is all about. I stand up for the things that I believe in and the things that I'm passionate about, but I like to keep my personal life as private as possible when it comes to dating and sexuality and all that stuff just because it had nothing to do with my music."
Writing for the Huffington Post, Noah Michelsen queried why Lovato has decided to remain hush about her sexuality, despite being open about most other areas of her personal life.
"Lovato has been courageously open and honest about other parts of her life that many might consider off limits ??? including her mental health, her struggles with substance abuse or her relationship with her father ??? which has helped to destigmatize these issues and allowed others to feel less alone in the world. So, if she feels comfortable talking about all of those potentially sensitive topics and experiences, why is she drawing the line at her sexual orientation?"
