After meeting up at Nabiac for a coffee break we set off west, and soon had to decide which was the smoother road to take, and it was generally agreed that the road via Dyers Crossing was the best call.
Cliff Stockley in his faithful tiny 1929 Austin Meteor soon noticed little difference in the road surfaces, but agreed that he never does enjoy the boulevard ride that his other club car, the smick 1986 Mercedes-Benz 190E, pampers him with.
David and Denise Kelvin could not have agreed more, doing it in style in their new (?) 1982 Mercedes-Benz 300T.
Arthur Broadley was along in his faithful 1971 Triumph 2000, with Harvey and Ros Haworth flying the Oz flag in their immaculate 1967 Holden HR Premier.
Brian and Avril Mills made the trek in from Coomba Park in their 1978 Peugeot 604 while Bill and Anne Coulton made the hilly countryside look easy in the very original 1939 Chevrolet.
On the outskirts of Gloucester we met up with local resident and long standing club member Bruce Yarnold, who led us into town and subsequently Billabong Park, in his quirky 1974 Haflinger.
Here we met up with Greg and Julie Silver whose were joining us in their very desirable 1946 Chevrolet… needless to say there was much to discuss under the car’s bonnet, with Bruce (who also has a 1936 Chevy in his shed) and of course Bill.
If you have an interest in older vehicles or just motoring generally, why not consider joining our club which conducts several events each month, in a variety of events both social and motoring themed.
It’s not necessary to own an older vehicle but if at some stage you decide to purchase one, there is a wealth of expertise in the club to help you make your personal decision.
Our club meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month commencing at 7pm in the meeting room at the Bellevue Hotel in Tuncurry, where visitors are made most welcome.
