She’s won two championships with Club Taree Women’s Golf, been a member of a State title winning over 40s hockey team and coached Cundletown to the Southern League women’s football premiership.
Sally is the Manning River Times-Iguana Sportstar of the Week, winning a $50 open order at Iguana.

A win with Jo Stinson in the Club Taree Women’s Golf foursomes championship was her most recent success. The pair have now claimed the title for three successive years.
“Jo plays off 12 and I’m off six and there’s not too many players in our club off low handicaps,’’ Sally explained.
“We won by about 10 or 12 shots.’’
However, Sally described foursomes as golf’s hardest game.
“You hit alternate shots so you have to combine well,’' she said.
“You feel guilty if you hit a bad shot and put pressure on your partner.’’
Earlier this year Sally also won the club championship. She's only made a relatively recent return to the game but admits the golf bug is starting to bite.
“I’m still only playing once a week – I’d like to play more, but it just doesn’t happen,’’ she said.
Sally missed the opportunity to add the mixed foursomes title to her list as she was away watching a college football game in Sydney when it was played.
Sally also made a comeback to football this year as coach and occasional player with the Cundletown Jets in the Southern League women’s football competition. The side was formed two years ago and lost successive grand finals.
“A few of the girls asked be to coach – I live at Cundletown near where they train, so it was nice and close.’’
Sally hasn’t been involved with football for more than a decade but said she had no trouble adapting.
“I have been playing futsal, so it wasn’t too difficult,’’ she said.
The Jets beat defending premiers Tuncurry-Forster in a penalty shoot in the grand final. Sally only played sparingly during the season and sat on the sidelines for most of the grand final.
"I came on in case I was needed for the penalty shoot out because a few of the girls were a bit nervous about being involved,’’ she said.
Sally wasn’t required for the shoot out, won 2-1 by the Jets to end a 100 minute marathon.
For good measure Sally was also drafted into the Manning Valley over 40s team that won the State Masters hockey championship at Grafton. Of all the sports she’s played Sally said golf is the most difficult, football the most enjoyable.
As for hockey: “That’s just something I’ve always done,’’ she said.
What a year: Sally Geary has won golf championships, a State 40s hockey title and coached a premiership winning football team in 2017. She is the Manning River Times-Iguana Sportstar of the Week.
