The fire is not threatening property at this stage, but is in country that is not easily accessible.
RFS Mid Coast Fire Control Centre Taree reported that aerial water bombers were assisting the brigade crews, but had to be diverted to continuing fires at Nabiac.
A grass fire near Mount George was also reported however it is being controlled.
“Conditions are easing as the hours progress,” said NSW RFS district officer - learning and development/fire investigator Stuart Robb.
As at 11am the fire was reported as being 54 hectares in size.
