The structure of the Telstra State SAP Championships for Girls recognises the importance of the Skill Acquisition Phase and the member zones who have supported Northern NSW Football’s (NNSWF) strategic direction through the implementation of Licensed Skill Acquisition Programs (SAPs).
Squads representing the NNSWF Newcastle SAP and a composite NNSWF Select SAP will also participate in the 12 and 14 years divisions. NNSWF is also once again pleased to include Adamstown Rosebud JFC, Wallsend FC and Warners Bay FC from the Herald Women’s Premier League in the 14 years division.
Teams across Northern NSW will include Hunter Valley Football, Football Mid North Coast, Macquarie Football, North Coast Football, Northern Inland, NNSWF Newcastle SAP, NNSWF Select SAP, Adamstown Rosebud JFC, Wallsend FC and Warners Bay FC.
NNSWF has hosted the Westfield National Youth Championships for Girls in July and the Telstra SAP State Championships for Boys and will host the FFA National Youth Championships for Boys in the final week of September.
“The championships provide the participants with an opportunity to represent their respective Zones and Skill Acquisition Programs and benchmark their development against their peers in a competitive environment,’’ Northern NSW chief executive David Eland said.
“They are a critical component of NNSWF’s endorsed Talented Player Pathway. The technical panel, headed by NNSWF technical director Michael Browne, will be identifying and monitoring players, including the girls in the Herald Women’s Premier League, who have the potential to represent NNSWF at next year’s National Youth Championships and to transition to the Jets Academy.”
