This will be the eighth time the 43-year-old has taken to the course- a 524 kilometre trek from Inverell to Newcastle.
He will attempt to raise $6000; $1,000 personally and $5,000 through the Taree and Taree South McDonald’s restaurants.
Mr Evans said he is driven to provide assistance to the charity where he can.
“The great work that RMHC does, inspires me to take on the ride each time so I can raise not only awareness, but funds to keep the services that the charity provides to those that are less fortunate,” he said.
Starting in Inverell on Tuesday, September 12, the riders will navigate through picturesque terrain in Northern NSW over five days to raise vital funds for the charity.
The ride will finish on Saturday, September 16 at Ronald McDonald House, Newcastle.
The group hopes to raise over $250,000 for the charity.
The Northern NSW chapter includes two Ronald McDonald Houses in Newcastle and Tamworth, Ronald McDonald Family Rooms in John Hunter Children’s Hospital and Gosford Hospital as well the Ronald McDonald Family Retreat in Forster.
They provide respite and a well-needed break for parents going through the worry of caring for their seriously ill child.
In 2016, 16,140 nights of accommodation were provided to 761 families at the Newcastle and Tamworth houses, 31,618 people were supported through the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms and 172 families were able to take time out to relax and connect at the Ronald McDonald Family Retreat.
In addition to this, 161 students were supported by the Ronald McDonald Learning Program which helps them catch up on missed schooling due to a serious illness.
People are encouraged to show their support by donating to the cause or joining the RMHC RFSK NNSW virtual ride. For more information, visit rfsk.org.au.
