In its 153rd year of operation the institute reported at its annual general meeting that its membership was 2076 and this year it added 157 large print books to its romance, western, general fiction and mystery sections, 13 non-fiction and 360 fiction books.

President Brian Crisp said about a third of the institute’s membership regularly use the library and its services, and added that the DVD collection was also very popular with some members only borrowing DVDs.
Mr Crisp said institute members “appreciated being greeted witha smile and being asked if they (the staff) could help.” He thanked the library staff Kylie Attard, Robin Lacey and volunteers Lindy Booth, Suzanne Booth and Carol Emerton.
Mr Crisp added that the institute had also donated a total of $3750 to Taree Eisteddfod and various schools.
“It complies in a small way with the aim of our constitution,” Mr Crisp said.
Taree Literary Institute is controlled by a committee and this year the office bearers are:
President Brian Crisp, vice-president Bob Crossman, secretary Suzanne Booth, librarian and treasurer Kylie Attard, committee members Sandra Saad, Helen Mitchell, Samantha Everett, Gary Masters, Dave Rush, Peter Smith and Keith Gibbs.
