The Tigers play Port Macquarie in the decider on Sunday.
“I thought we’ve been the best sides this season,’’ Sheenan said.
“I’m not surprised to be playing them.’’
Port City finished minor premiers but were beaten in straight sets in the finals series, losing to Wingham in the major semi and the Sharks in the final.
Sheenan said his side is going into Sunday in good form following two strong displays in the finals series. He said Andrew Gilbert, Brendan Butler and Nick Beacham are all in good nick while Kurtis Millikan and Jackson Mullen give the Tigers go-forward from the bench. Sheehan added the Tigers have no injury worries.
Gilbert played a dominant player in Wingham’s breakthrough Group Three Rugby League first grade premiership victories in 2002/03. He is tipped to play a similar role on Sunday.
Wingham hasn’t won a premiership in any grade since 2013 when the reserve grade was victorious in the grand final at Wauchope.
“We’re overdue,’’ Sheehan said.
