The brothers are wounded war veterans, Jimmy a one time coal miner losing a leg in the service, and Clyde losing part of an arm and now tends a bar at a roadside saloon.
Legend has it that the Logan family is cursed. The speedway has a sink hole problem and Jimmy was part of a team of ex-coal miners who were brought in to fix it. While beneath the stadium he learned that concession stand earnings are delivered to a cash vault deep in the basement.
With a little help from Joe Bang (Daniel Craig), an imprisoned explosives expert, they can break the vault and steal the cash. Complications arise when a mix-up forces the crew to pull off the heist during a popular NASCAR race while also trying to dodge a relentless FBI agent.
