Hi everyone, my name is Paul Sandilands and I grew up in Forster at a time when a lot of it was still dirt roads.

I did my junior years of high school in Forster and my senior years in Taree, as Forster only went to year ten.
I did my general nurses training at Manning Base Hospital, not long after that I undertook my Midwifery training at Manly Hospital.
I've then spent the last four decades caring for people across our whole community which include Bulahdelah, Forster, Wingham and Taree.
I have also been actively involved in sport within our region also for the past four decades, firstly at club level.
When I moved to the Hallidays Point area there were no local sporting avenues for my children so I, with a great deal of help, formed Hallidays Point Sports Club, which is still going strong.
I have served at board level of the Manning District Soccer Association before they underwent a forced merger with Oxley.
I have now served on that board for 11 years.
I have volunteered for a large number of different community events over the years as well.
My interest in running for council is that I truly feel I can contribute.
I have lived and worked in most areas of MidCoast Council.
I have lived with and can relate to the issues that people are concerned about.
I have spent decades working within groups to plan development and growth and focusing on gaining consensus to achieve goals.
To achieve consensus you have to be willing to listen, willing to understand all of the different viewpoints and work within a group to reach a successful conclusion.
My personal agenda is purely to endeavour to help the community that I love and the people that share it with me.
