However, injuries forced Priscilla Schmidt to retire from riding while she was carving out a successful career. Now she remains heavily involved in the Sport of Kings as a presenter with Sky Racing. Priscilla, who still lives in Port Macquarie, is a regular at race meeting in the Mid North Coast and beyond with her duties with Sky. Her father, Dewayne, is a trainer at Grafton while her grandfather, Glen Hodge, was a successful train in the Mid North Coast for many years. Priscilla rode her first winner on a horse trained by her grandfather. Her sister, Cassie, is still a jockey.

Priscilla admits she misses the adrenaline rush of riding a winner, but enjoys her role with Sky Racing – a job she started almost immediately after retiring from riding.

She appeared on the Friday Sport Talk on the Manning River Times just before starting work with Sky on the second day of Taree-Wingham Race Club’s Gold Cup Carnival at Bushland Drive.
