Tinonee RFS crew training is in full swing, led by training officers Bert Bennett and Laurie Murphy, in preparation for the warmer days and months ahead.
While fortnightly training hones the skills of our firefighters it also builds the mateship and comradery that is essential in building teamwork skills, rapid communication and safe operating conditions.
Tinonee RFS has grown in size from its first gathering in the late 1960s to a record membership of 49, including 26 active firefighters.
This would not have been possible without the support of the local community and local sponsors.
The Tinonee RFS would like to publicly acknowledge this support by staging a demonstration of skill in front line firefighting on Tuesday August 22.
It is hoped that this demonstration will serve as a reminder to the community of the fire risk ahead of us while reminding us of the risks faced by firefighters everywhere when they don the uniform.
Local Member for Myall Lakes, Stephen Bromhead will be in attendance at the event along with the management from RFS sponsor Holiday Coast Credit Union, to observe the crews in action.
Look out for reports on the event as we invite our local MP to join in!
