The meeting is expected to commence from 7.15pm and will involve the display of the hospital’s redevelopment proposals as well as the launch of a petition to NSW parliament.
The petition calls on funding for the hospital redevelopment and a review of the performance of Hunter New England Health in relation to the hospital.
NSW health and medical research minister Brad Hazzard has promised an investigation and a detailed response to multiple issues raised by the group.
NSW shadow health minister Walt Secord will attend the meeting and will hopefully speak with hospital staff.
“The public meeting is important so I urge a big turnout,” MGLCHAG president Alan Tickle said.
Hunter New England Health District’s chair and CEO will attend a meeting with the action group on August 28.
