The three-way intersection has a history of motor vehicle accidents, with works set to improve the asphalt road surface and introduce new line-marking through the NSW Government’s Blackspot funding program.
Traffic disruptions are expected during peak times. The worksite requires Wingham Road / Commerce Street to be reduced to a single lane, with traffic control in place to allow vehicles through in one direction at a time.
In addition, the top end of Old Wingham Road, between Commerce Street and Ritchie Crescent, will be closed.
To access Old Wingham Road from the north, the detour will be via McLennan Street and Dugdale Avenue.
From the south, detour via Louis Street.
Motorists are asked to travel with caution through the area and observe all roadworks signage and directions from road crews.
The works commenced on Thursday, July 27 and will conclude on Friday, July 28.
