The station’s first broadcast took place in March 1994 from a shop front in Taree - the efforts to establish the station commenced about 12 months before that.
The first broadcast was transmitted by land line from Rhema FM Newcastle. The initial cost of doing all this used all available funds. It took another three years before test broadcasting recommenced in 1997 from the Isabella Street Wingham studio.
At that stage the station was able to broadcast just three days a week for fifteen weeks a year. In about 2000 we were allowed to commence broadcasting 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
The station started to broadcast from the new studios situated in the arcade behind Bent on Food on Monday, July 24.
Station manager Mark Spencer has used his carpentry and building skills to construct very professional studio layout. While radio technician John Shackleton has put together the broadcast and production facilities. A huge thank you to those two gentlemen for their hours of voluntary and tireless work.
Rhema FM is manned totally by volunteers. The station broadcasts Christian music and messages to the Manning and Great Lakes.
Funds from sponsors (advertisers) and members allow Rhema to broadcast its life changing good news. New members are always welcome.
Members of the public are most welcome to come along and have a look at the new studio. For more information phone 6553 0116.
