These events will, of course, be of the scientific kind with the damage limited to a sticky mess of mints and fizzy drink or an overflow of bi-carb and vinegar.
As part of the school’s Education Week activities principal Lisa Kirkland said students will present a practical arts showcase next Wednesday and they have also been working on projects for the science fair.
“We have a great music program at the school and on Wednesday we will have a performance band playing, as well as the choir, dance acts, public speaking and an art display,” Mrs Kirkland said.
“It’s usually a fun night with about 150 visitors joining the students. We try to get the community really involved in Education Week.”
Next Friday’s science fair is for the young and young at heart.
“Parents are encouraged to get involved,” Mrs Kirkland said.
“Science projects will be set up on Friday morning and then all day the students go around and listen to their classmates’ presentations – it takes all day.”
Harrington Public School – situated in a family-friendly seaside community – offers Kindergarten to Year 6 classes and the school is focused on future learning with a flexible learning environment. Lessons include science, technology, engineering and mathematics as well as robotics. The school currently has 112 students.
“We’re not really a small school, but we’re not really a big school either and we have a great school community,” Mrs Kirkland said.
