Gleny Rae Virus and her playboys inhabit the junction of folk and country as they describe themselves as steam powered hillbilly swing. Their live sound paints a vivid landscape of double bass, fiddle guitar and banjo that was very much enjoyed by the small crowd of eager listeners, one of whom described the performance as “exuberant renditions of their own folklore”.
Live acts coming up in the near future for 2BOB’s Big Backyard include Sydney’s seminal post punk experimental band Scattered Order.
They will perform live at 2BOB on September 29 as part of their tour in support of their new album “A Suitcase Full Of Snowglobes”.
Scattered Order were formed back in 1979 out of a band called The Barons. They also set up M Squared Records, a small do-it-yourself label which released a flood of fascinating bands including the Systematics, The Makers Of The Dead Travel Fast, Pel Mel and Severed Heads among others.
All Quarantine Room performances for 2BOB’s Big Backyard are open to the public.
Listeners are more then welcome to come in to the 2BOB studios, enjoy a great set of music and help create a great live-to-air atmosphere in the station.
