But despite the 13-year-old’s effort in goals, Northern NSW finished third in the event behind Queensland and South Australia.
Northern started strongly, beating Queensland 2-0 on the opening day, but untimely draws hindered their efforts of winning the championship, which was decided on a first-past-the-post points system. They were the only side to beat Queensland during the tournament.
It’s been a busy year for Xanthe, who plays for Newcastle-based Emerging Jets under 13s in the National Premier League (NPL). The Jets are currently 13 points clear on the ladder.
Xanthe is required to train twice a week in Newcastle with the Jets, with matches on Sunday at either Newcastle or Sydney.
In January Xanthe was one of five players named in the All Stars under 12 team after the national futsal championships held in Sydney. Xanthe was member of the Manning-dominated Far North Coast side. FNC were finalists, beaten in the decider by Victoria Country.
Xanthe enjoyed her experience at Coffs Harbour. She’s hoping to return in 2018 when she’ll again be eligible for the under 14.
Xanthe started playing football with the Moorland club. She attends Camden Haven High School.
