CLUB Taree Red Rovers under nines played Taree Panthers in Group Three Junior Rugby League and it was a tough match. Rovers were running short due to some kids being away on holidays so we had no reserves and the boys had to dig deep. McKye Bron had an outstanding game bagging a few tries and the players all worked hard for each other in defence as a team.
Under 10s
RED Rovers under 10s travelled to Port and tried hard against a quality team before going down 24-6. All players put in big effort as last time they met it was 40 to 0. The boys should be proud of effort and they played in awful conditions with the wet weather making it hard to hold the ball.
Under 12s
This week the Under 12 Club Taree Red Rovers had a grand final re-match with the defending premiers, Lake Cathie Raiders, at the Taree Rec Grounds.
After not playing for a few weeks, it was a slow start for the Rovers with a some dropped balls and knock-ons but they found their way and had a convincing 30-10 win.
Connor Latham was a tower of strength in both attack and defence as was Shaun Weldon with two tries. Blake Murchie and Tye Wallace played hard and straight in the middle of the field while Lucas Lemay was busy at dummy half.
Try scorers were Shaun Weldon (2), Jacob Smith, Lucas Lemay, Xavier Wells and Kai Young.
Next week we take on the Wauchope Blues at home at Taree Recreation Centre.
Under 13s
CLUB Taree Red Rovers made the road trip up to Port to play Port Breakers under 13s. In driving rain the match was a very physical clash with Rovers holding 6-4 lead for most of the game. Rovers defence was outstanding the whole game and was rewarded with a 12-4 win.
