Australian Ballet tickets soon on general sale
Since we announced our 2017 Season back in December last year, coveted tickets for the Australian Ballet’s brilliant production of “Giselle” have been available exclusively to Friends of the MEC. The good news for those who have not yet purchased tickets is that general public tickets will be on sale from Thursday August 3.
We strongly advise you to get in quick from that date, as the last time the Australian Ballet came to town, they sold out in a flash. Alternatively, you could purchase tickets now by becoming a Friend of the MEC for just $25, and that way you get to enjoy the benefits of cheaper shows all year round.
Obsess over Jude Law
Our next OnScreen film features Jude Law, stepping away from his role as His Holiness in “The Young Pope” and crawling into the decidedly grittier role of Gino. Gino is a drifter, down-at-heel and magnetically handsome.
At a road side restaurant he encounters husband and wife, Giuseppe and Giovanna. Irresistibly attracted to each other, Gino and Giovanna begin a fiery affair and plot to murder her husband. But, in this chilling tale of passion and destruction, the crime only serves to tear them apart.
If you loved him in The Talented Mr. Ripley, you’ll love his intense performance in “Obsession”. Screening at 10am and 7pm on Tuesday August 1.
Russian Ballet cancellation of Saturday show
The Saturday September 2 performance of Romeo and Juliet by the Russian Ballet Theatre has been cancelled, but tickets are available for the second performance on Sunday September 3 at 2.30pm.
