With the State Fishing Clubs Association (FCA) Estuary Championships held yesterday and today there has been an lot of exploratory fishing done.
Bream have been caught in all parts of the river with some fish full of roe. The wall is fishing well for bream and luderick while some big mulloway have been landed as well. Fish of 17kgs, 10kgs, 28kgs, 17kgs and 30.3kgs have been taken on slack water from the wall above the gantry.
Flathead are still taking soft plastics from up-river locations.
The rocks and beaches have fished poorly for the past week with few fish being weighed.
Outside anglers have scored snapper to 5kgs, pearl perch, flathead and morwong in close while those fishing in 600 to 1000 feet of water have scored bar cod to 19kgs.
Surface fish have been absent but a few tailor to 1kg have been landed by those fishing close to rocks at Diamond Head.
