Two events – a 2km walk and a 5km walk/jog attracted 170 starters.
“I would have been happy with 100, so 170 is a great result,’’ Kimberly said.
She confirmed the event will now be held annually in Taree, possibly at the same time of year.
Kimberly took part in the Port Macquarie Memory Walk & Jog last year and decided to organise an event in Taree dedicating it to her grandfather, Kevin Outten, who lost his battle with dementia in 2016.
“There was a bit of drizzle early in the day and I thought ‘oh no’ but it came out perfect,’’ Kimberly said.
The 5km walk/run followed the route of the weekly Taree parkrun, where Kimberly is a regular attendee. She was assisted by parkrun’s Margie Lewis in organising the memory walk.
The event was sponsored by LJ Hooker Taree, Taree Gardens Retirement Village, Taree North Rotary and Taree on Manning Rotary.
