The community was invited to join school’s colourful NAIDOC Day celebrations which began on Tuesday with a formal assembly followed by a wide range of activities and a barbecue lunch.
Activities included dancing, yarning circles, ground art, boomerang and spear throwing and weaving.
This will be followed by NAIDOC Night, a concert featuring Andrew Saunders as master of ceremonies and including traditional dancers, story telling, solo and duo performances, comedy and live music.
There will be two concerts, both at Taree High hall, a matinee starting at 11am and an evening performance starting at 6 o’clock.
NAIDOC Week is a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements and as it falls in the school holidays (July 2-9) schools hold celebrations before and after the holidays.
