The open boys and girls teams took part in the CCC in Newcastle last month. The teams trained after school during terms one and two to prepare for the championship and were recently congratulated on “their outstanding representation of the St Clare’s community.”
The A-division boys team had a convincing win over Goulburn in their first game and followed it up with a closely fought win over New England in their second game. Their third game was against Grafton and the St Clare’s boys held them to a draw until the closing minute of the game where Grafton were able to score off a penalty corner. Their final pool game was against Tamworth, who they beat convincingly 3-1. This placed them into the semi-final where they were unfortunately beaten by West Wollongong 2-1.
The team consisted of Sam Mudford, Hugh Polson, Lachlan Cross, Daniel Sewell, Josh Argall, Matt Parvin, Kye Lewis, Gabe Poole, Mat and Pat Luckie, Isaac Cross, Kye Brady, Brodie Guppy, Dane Wallis, Digby Graham and Eamon Smith.
The B-division girls team were described as an “absolute pleasure to coach” and they competed against teams from Goulburn, Tamworth, Sydney, Newcastle and Aberdeen and achieved mixed results winning two games, a draw and two losses. The team consisted of Stephanie Poole, Hannah Lewis, Abbi Greenaway, Demi Fox, Tasman Henry, Zoe Elliot, Jen Wesley, Emma Yarnold, Abby Collison, Samanther Annetts, Tilley Hunter, Jordan Moscatt, Tia Hinton and Lilly Smith.
The school also acknowledged the coaching and supervision work of Karina Hogan, Scott Forbes and Steve and Marian Parvin and umpire work of Joshua Lythgoe.
