IN an all Tuncurry Bowling Club match the duo of Steve Harris and Matt Sargeant defeated Kevin Robinson and Rex Johnston in the final of the Zone 11 pairs championship.

The final began with the promise of a tight match, Sargeant and Harris led from start to finish to record a comfortable win. In their semi finals, they defeated Wayne Holland and Mick Pole (Forster), while Johnston and Robinson downed Steve Matheson and Tom Moore (Wingham).
Harris and Sargeant are cleaning up zone titles this year with Harris winning the fours, triples and now the pairs and Sargeant successful with Harris in the triples and pairs. With only the zone singles to go the race for zone bowler of the year looks to be between these two.
In the senior pairs Mal Drury and Errol Ruprecht (Taree West) defeated Robrt Austin and Peter Rumbell (Taree Leagues) in a final that kept the spectators interested to the end. The two losing semi finalists were Warren Wilson, Doug Kessel and Graeme Akers, Peter Schroeder, all from Forster.
The presidents reserve pairs was a battle between two Forster teams with Mark Anderson and John O’Malley successful against Alby Dean and John Bagnall.
Meanwhile in pennants Taree Railway were successful in the final two grades to be decided. In the No 6s they defeated Wingham and in grade seven Railway downed Harrington.
The State finals will be in August.
