The Wildcat went onto win the game 5-1 after the scores were locked at 0-0 at the break.
“It was fantastic,’’ coach Rod Bartley enthused.
“I was really happy with the style of play we produced.’’
He said the Wildcats lack patience in the first half and blew a number of goal scoring opportunities.
“Halftime came at a really good time for us,’’ Bartley said.
“We had 90 per cent of the ball in the first half. So we sat down at the break and talked about what we needed to change.
“That seemed to do the trick.’’
Jordan Howard, who was again outstanding for the Wildcats, scored two goals as did Dylan Webber. Justin Atkins added the other.
Sean Pol-Cini, Luke Jones and Tom Griffen were also strong for Taree.
“We probably should have scored another couple of goals,’’ Bartley said.
“But it was a good result for us, although we’ll put that behind us now and look to next week.
The Wildcats went into the game minus striker Ricky Campbell, who was nursing a hamstring injury. Campbell hopes to be fit for this week’s game against Port United, however, goal keeper Josh Ferris will remain on the sidelines for a couple more weeks.
The reserve grade ended in a 2-2 draw.
