The extensive program of works commenced earlier this month, already covering a selection of local streets in Harrington, Old Bar, Wingham, and most recently resealing two sections of Albert Street in Taree’s CBD.
Line marking in Albert Street has been scheduled for next week.
From Monday, and running over the next three weeks, work will be undertaken in Victoria Street, Taree, from its intersection with Macquarie Street through to Browns Creek. The work will be conducted during the day and will involve lane closures, however to minimise disruption to traffic, the schedule will be broken down into smaller stages.
In stage one, between Macquarie Street and Florence Street, traffic impacted by alternate lane closures will be diverted via a clearly marked detour.
In following stages, between Florence Street and Browns Creek bridge, through-traffic will be maintained at all times in a contraflow arrangement.
“Resurfacing on this section of Victoria Street will be welcomed by the thousands of vehicles that use this main thoroughfare daily”, Ron Hartley, MidCoast Council’s Director Engineering and Infrastructure Services said. “Being structurally sound, the resurfacing treatment will effectively extend its life, providing a layer of protection that will prevent the formation of pot-holes and deterioration of its subsurface layers”.
While the resurfacing will commence next Monday, contractors will begin some preparatory drainage works today, Friday May 26 and tomorrow Saturday May 27.
“This initial work will have an impact on driveway access and parking, however contractors will liaise with property-owners in the vicinity of the works to minimise disruption”, Ron added.
Restrictions to on-street parking will be in place for the duration of the resurfacing works, which are expected to be completed by Friday, June 16, weather permitting.
Motorists can expect some delays while the resealing takes place, and are asked to observe all signage and directions from road crews, and to travel with caution through the area.
This project is part of MidCoast Council’s $30 million Roadcare Program which has been made available through savings and funding provided as a result of the merger. To stay updated on the progress of these works, please visit www.myroadinfo.com.au
