The purpose of the event was to develop an understanding of Gathang, the traditional language of the Biripi and Worimi people.
Discussions, games, ground art, boomerang and spear throwing were some of the activities designed to enhance learning and celebrate culture.
Organiser Jay Davis said developing an understanding of Gathang will grow a connection with culture.
"Language is basically the basis of culture.
"We are trying to immerse community and children in language with games which have language components of it,” Mr Davis said.
Some words those in attendance were able to take from the event included girawik (cup), walung (spoon) and bigal yili (tea).
Name tags also displayed the words Barraba Yitirr, meaning “my name is”.
“It’s that level of immersion needed to keep the ongoing process of language and support of language in Aboriginal communities,” Mr Davis said.
The session was the second in a series, the first run last year at Saltwater.
