This crabeater seal washed up on Treachery Beach following a suspected shark attack.
A southern crabeater seal washed up on Treachery Beach at Seal Rocks on May 13, after being bitten by what looked to be a large shark.

The National Parks and Wildlife service had to put the seal down before people from the nearby Treachery Camp helped remove it from the beach.
Witness Luke Marvell said the seal is now in the hands of researchers.
He added that this type of seal had not been sighted in this area before, raising questions as to why it had traveled so far north.
