In the first stage, Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 May, the section between Commerce Street and Pulteney Street will be undertaken, followed by the stretch running from Manning Street to Macquarie Street on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 May.
The Albert Street works are due for completion by Friday 26 May.
As road closure is required while the work is underway, it will be conducted from 6pm each evening to minimise disruption to local traffic and businesses in the area.
“Streets being targeted are those that are structurally sound, where the resurfacing treatment will assist in protecting the road and preventing the formation of pot-holes,” explained Ron Hartley, MidCoast Council’s director of Engineering and Infrastructure Services.
Periodic resealing assists in waterproofing the structural layer of a road and prevents its deterioration. Roads that are already pot-holed have failed under the surface and require more extensive rehabilitation or reconstruction works.
The resurfacing schedule will continue through to the end of June, including sections in Victoria Street, Crescent Avenue and Endeavour Place carpark, Taree.
Work has already been completed in various Harrington streets, Drury Close Old Bar, and in Primrose Street Wingham.
This project is part of MidCoast Council’s $30million Roadcare Program, made available through savings and funding provided as a result of the merger. To stay updated on the progress of these works, please visit www.myroadinfo.com.au
