Pre-fish is on Friday to give anglers a chance to check out the river. The competition-proper, which is catch and release, will begin on Saturday and Sunday at 7am and the weigh-in on both days from 2pm at Endeavour Place.
About 51 teams and 100 anglers will contest the round.
“We have entries from around NSW as well as Queensland and Victoria,'’ event director Simon Goldsmith said.
He added there’s a ‘strong chance’ the round will return to Taree next year.
