A SafeWorkNSW spokesperson said initial inquiries have indicated a 50 tonne crane toppled over into the site while lifting a bundle of steel used for concrete work.
The 46 year old driver of the crane jumped out as it toppled and sustained a broken leg.
“Investigations are continuing, as are efforts to address identified safety issues at the construction site,” the spokesperson said.
The damage caused by the crane has been amended while work has recommenced onsite.
