TUNCURRY Beach bowler Marty Gosper has just returned from Melbourne where he competed in the Australian Greenkeepers Championship.

This event is only held every three years and attracts green keepers from all over the country.

Gosper’s team of Mark Bateman (ACT), Pat Chorley (Lismore) and Mark Wilcher (South West Rocks) were the defending champions in the fours event, and in a gruelling week of competition at Richmond Union Bowling Club, were able to fend off all pretenders and successfully defend their title.

In the final, against a team from Queensland, they jumped out to an early lead, and continued to apply the pressure, extending the break to establish a match winning margin.
