About 2000 people were on hand at Crowdy Head Beach on May 6 for the Drag-ens Hot Rod Club RattleTrap event.
The event showcased vintage motorcycles, classic hot rods and historical vehicles in bracket sprint races on the sand.
Co-organiser Graham Galloway was overwhelmed by the support shown for the event.
“It was a resounding success, a far bigger crowd than we expected,” Mr Galloway said.
Organisers were forced to turn back some local entrants to accommodate travellers from South Australia, Victoria and Queensland.
Mr Galloway said no accidents were reported with spectators leaving the beach in a spotless condition at the conclusion of the day.
With the hot rod club set to conduct a review of the event, Mr Galloway hinted that the event would return to Crowdy Head next year with an opportunity for more entrants to compete.
The club thanked the Crowdy Head Surf Life Saving Club, the Harrington Lions Club, Rotary Club of Harrington, MidCoast Council and the Chamber of Commerce for their assistance.
Special mention went to the Crowdy and Harrington Marine Rescue for providing catering on the day.
