A hat-trick from Mia Bales came about after strength in the centre back from Francis Duffy and Ginger Harrison to create time and opportunity to play out and find the feet, or the run, of Mia.
Under 16s
FMNC under 16s faced a strong, vocal Warners Bay opposition in sweltering conditions.
The heat had really kicked in by the time the girls started and it really put their fitness to the test.
The girls played well as a team and used their width and their strength in passing to create more time on the ball as well as make their opposition do more work.
Macey McCarron showed strength and composure beyond her years in the backline and stopped any threat of a run on goal. The team received two penalties in the game but failied to capitalise with a save from the keeper and a missed opportunity.
In the end the use of wide runs paid off with a goal from Nelly Barnett coming from a well placed cross ripe for the tap in.
Under 18s
Under 18s really hit their stride producing some wonderful football. Faced again with searing heat the girls had to play smart to avoid having to defensively chase the vast amount of overhead balls peppering the keeper and back line.
Five minutes into the first half FMNC were awarded a penalty in the box which was expertly placed by Amanda Armstrong to put the side up 1-0.
Warners Bay responded quickly, equalising from a long range ball.
Five minutes before half time a wonderful passage of play between Amanda, Hayley Armstrong and Abbi Watson created the space to cut he ball back to Kiara Bartley, who found the back of the net to take FMNC to half time 2-1 up.
Warners Bay clawed back an equaliser in the second half and although FMNC dominated possession, they were unable to grab the win ending in a 2-2 draw.
