FRONT-running Wallamba Bulls and premiership-defending Forster Tuncurry Dolphins have enjoyed midweek successes in their postponed games in the Lower Mid North Coast rugby union premiership.

The Bulls won 51-5 against the Old Bar Clams on Tuesday evening and the Dolphins defeated the Manning River Ratz, 50-5, on Wednesday under lights at Harry Elliott Oval, giving away “300 penalties,” according to their coach, Ron Rae.
The Bulls’ third success in as many games and the Dolphins’ second successive win presents the two teams in the best possible light for their clash of the unbeaten tomorrow week. All rugby roads will lead to Nabiac for that confrontation at the Bulls’ home ground.
No premiership rugby will be played this weekend with the NSW Country Championships to be played at Port Macquarie’s International Stadium tomorrow and Sunday.
The Bulls’ coach, Lee Sullivan, was an interested spectator at the Dolphins’ game against the Ratz, remarking: “Basically, the Dolphins controlled the game.
“Last Saturday’s game was a tough one for the Ratz. They looked a bit tired and Ben Northam did not play in the match.
“Matt Nuku was terrific at five-eighth for the Dolphins and he had an excellent halfback in Liam Brady. Their back three (Jesse Logan, Jonathan Paff and Jack Nicholson) have good pace and they had a lively No seven as open-side flanker in Tom Homer.
Of his own team, Sullivan praised the games of inside-centre James Hanford, No 8 Daniel Aldridge and props, Aaron Gordon and Paul de Szell.
The Dolphins’ club president, Damian Daczko, said: “Impressive in the first half, but they fell fell away in the second half.”
The Lower MNC will be represented by the Dolphins’ centre three-quarter, Naibuka Nakito, and their impressive young hooker from West Wyalong, Jeremy Innes, who has been chosen in the Central West under 19 team, in this weekend’s Country Championships.
Likewise, the brothers, Lachlan and Tim Daczko, locks of the Dolphins club, have been added to the MNC under 19 representative squad for the Country Championships.
