About 7.30pm on Monday, April 24, a 33ft cruiser, named Midnight Blue, was being navigated by a 55-year-old Queensland man travelling from Port Stephens to Queensland.
When the boat reached Cape Hawke Harbour the man failed to enter the bar and ran the boat aground on Main Beach, Forster.
Police attended and the skipper was removed from the boat before being breath tested.
Police will allege he returned a positive reading. He was arrested and taken to Forster Police Station where he allegedly provided a breath analysis reading on 0.159.
He was charged with high range PCA (Marine).
He refused bail and is due to appear in Taree Local Court today (April 25).
The boat will be retrieved with the assistance of a crane.
The boat remains on the Forster side of the breakwall and has attracted a crowd of onlookers.
