The digger statues which were placed on site at Taree’s Memorial Clock in Fotheringham Park earlier this month, were unwrapped on Monday afternoon ahead of Anzac Day.

The statues were created by Toowoomba stonemasons J H Wager and Sons and are the latest in a series of developments at Fotheringham Park. Other projects include the addition of a WWI memorial walkway, a new water bubbler and restoration of the clock tower.
The State government contributed $4000 to the Taree RSL Sub-branch for the statues. The project’s overall cost was estimated to be around $35,600, including transportation, insurance and installation.
When the statues were formally approved in 2015, Taree RSL Sub-branch president Darcy Elbourne said they would play an important part in commemorating the centenary of Anzac.
