Tom Roulstone who was Cecil Smith’s brother-in-law built the premises.
Cecil had a 20 year contract to lease the building as a garage.
Cecil ran the front shop consisting of petrol and oil services.
His first mechanic in the workshop was Fred Tierney.
A little later Steve Masters became a partner of Cecil’s and ran the workshop.
About 1945 Tommy Dunn extended the workshop as it was doing well and in 1948 Harry Alcorn and Dick Newell came to work there from Hardes Auto House. At that time there were nine working in the workshop.
Cecil left in 1960 and Steve Masters continue on until his retirement.
