Nathan will be at Taree TAFE campus between 12.30pm and 2.30pm to discuss his own struggles with gambling and his successes in Rugby League.
He will pay a visit to Gloucester High School beforehand.
Nathan will be available for signatures and photographs or to provide advice on how to combat gambling addiction.
The event has been organised by TAFE in conjunction with Samaritans Gambling Help and Mid North Coast Financial Counselling Service.
Samaritans Gambling Help counselor Steve Edmon said Nathan is a positive influence on problem gamblers.
“We were lucky we could invite him.
“I think it’s a responsible position he’s taken.
“He’s a role model for so many people,” Mr Edmon said.
He is hopeful Nathan will be able to inspire people to seek help.
“Sometimes life events do go according to plan so you have to ask for help,” Mr Edmon said.
Mr Edmon added the reaction to the visit is positive with all Group Three Rugby League teams in the region expected to show interest.
Bridgey’s Sportpower have donated footballs that are expected to be signed by Nathan and given away on the day.
Nathan spent 14 seasons at the Parramatta Eels before his retirement in 2012.
He also represented NSW and Australia and received the Dally M second-rower of the year award on five occasions.
He is now a commentator and personality with Fox Sports.
