The State's top BMX riders in all age groups are competing in Taree as a compulsory Country round of the series.
In anticipation of the high calibre of riders attending, Manning Valley BMX Club committee has completed upgrades of the home track. This includes additional work on the third straight as well as sealing the track with a special polymer formula designed to keep the track in top condition regardless of adverse weather.
The track maintenance crew have worked tirelessly alongside specialist contractors to have the track in good shape in readiness for the State round.
“The terrible weather our region has endured over the past three weeks shouldn't impact on the quality of the track or the racing this weekend', a club spokesman said.
“The rain nearly ruined our efforts to ready the track for the meet - it was touch and go for a while, but thanks to the new polymer seal our track should be largely unaffected by the rain.
“It'll just probably be a good idea for spectators to bring their gumboots though,’’ the spokesman concluded.
Action starts tomorrow with practice between 3pm- 5pm tomorrow. Competition his underway on Sunday from 10am after more practice at 8am.
As a current Olympic sport, there will also be pro riders galore showcasing their speed and skills in their personal preparation for World titles coming up in Rock Hill, USA.
The Manning club will also be strongly represented during the day’s racing.
Full canteen facilities will also be available.
