Twenty metres of double unbroken lines will be installed on Oxley Island Road from the Manning Point intersection. MidCoast Council recently approved the change to the road pavement marking after investigating a request from a resident to improve safety at the intersection.
Council’s traffic committee report states “there have been three crashes listed at this intersection over five years with two being single vehicles leaving the road on Manning Point Road as they travel around the 90 degree bend.”
“The third being a right turn crash of a vehicle exiting Oxley Island turning right being hit by a vehicle on Manning Point Road travelling north” with the resident advising council that the “crashes she has attended had been minor with vehicles leaving the roadway with no injuries.”
