The program has been designed to encourage more corporations and businesses to make regular blood donations.
Groups are given the opportunity to keep a tally of donations and any set out challenges and goals.
NORTEC Taree’s Joanne Ford said the program has sparked “friendly competition” among the employees, with other branches around NSW and Queensland set to join in.
“NORTEC loved the opportunity to be able to participate and give back to the community,” Joanne said.
Blood Bank spokesperson Felix Palmer said the Red25 program gives businesses an incentive to donate.
“Red25 is all about partnering the Blood Service with local organisations, clubs and societies to make a real and positive difference to people’s lives.
“By giving blood, NORTEC’s employees have demonstrated their commitment to positively impacting the community’s well-being, with their recent group donation alone helping to save the lives of up to 15 Australians.
“We need over 27,000 donations every week across Australia to meet demand. The support of our local businesses and societies is paramount to meeting that target,” Felix said.
