The out-going committee were thanked for their commitment over the past three years and a new committee was elected. The new committee is president Shirley Tyrie, vice president Leone Winn, secretary Glenda Crittenden and treasurer Sandra Wallis. Jan Cluff is the activities officer and has planned the next outing which will be to Gloucester on Tuesday, March 21. The group will meet behind Taree South McDonalds by 9am to car pool before moving off for the organic gardens and Tucker Patch. After lunch the group will head off to the herb gardens.
New members are welcome, take along a chair and morning tea, a picnic lunch or purchase at one of the local outlets. Contact Shirley on 6556 9128 or Glenda on 6551 4910.
New arrival
BELINDA and Cameron Ellison, of Lansdowne, welcomed daughter Janaya Rose to the world on February 23.
Janaya was born at Manning Hospital, weighing 3.28 kilograms. She is a new baby sister for Jacob, aged five, and Carson, aged two.
Proud grandparents are Barry and Sandra Ellison of Lansdowne, Darell Minett of Upper Lansdowne and Robyn Elem of Sydney.
Irish theme
THE Lansdowne Bowling and Recreation Club will have the Irish band Chris-Tony and the Hoppas on this Friday evening to celebrate St Patrick's day. The starts at 6pm with raffles and free pool.
There will be a massive Easter seafood and meat tray raffle on Thursday, April 13 and the annual Anzac Day services will also be held at the club.
Fair success
The inaugural Upper Lansdowne Country Fair – 'Sustainability Past and Possible’ on Saturday was a great success, with around 1000 people visiting. The warm, sunny weather helped, and locals have never seen so many cars at Upper Lansdowne.
The hands-on old-fashioned farming activities like butter and ice cream making, rope making, corn cracking and other displays were the biggest hits, especially with children. The whole of the Upper Lansdowne community participated in making sure that the day was going to be successful.
It will be an annual event from now on, and lessons learnt from the surprise numbers include the need for more parking facilities. The funds raised will help ensure the new commercial kitchen is operating long before then, so catering will be much easier in 2018.
