To do this she is participating in the World’s Greatest Shave by having her head shaved and is asking the community to help by sponsoring her.
It’s not an easy thing for Hannah, a Wingham resident and ex-Wingham High School student, to undertake.
“I’ve wanted to do it for five years, but I was too nervous,” she said.
“It’s not just about the money. It’s also just to get me out of my bubble a bit because I was diagnosed with anxiety.
“I wanted to do the best I could to show myself I could do something like this.”
It definitely isn’t just about the money for Hannah – it is all tied up in memories of her mum, who died when she was only eight years old.
“My brother was only two when she passed away,” Hannah said.
Hannah is studying her Community Services Diploma at TAFE with a view to studying psychology at university. Her ultimate aim is to work as a music/art therapist.
She is learning the violin, and also plays the guitar, bass guitar, drums, sings and writes her own songs.
She remembers her mum playing the guitar and writing her own songs.
“I’m like her twin,” Hannah said.
Hannah is also a mixed media artist, and believes she inherited her ‘arty’ side from her mum.
“I remember her making bizarre dolls with her friends,” she said.
This week alone she has raised $364, and hopes to raise more before June 30.
She is having her head shaved at Just Cuts at Taree Central on Saturday March 18. Just Cuts will be doing World’s Greatest Shave work for a number of participants on the day between 12pm and 2pm.
