Mr Kiernan said: “Over the last 26 years volunteers have removed the equivalent of 331 thousand ute loads of rubbish – that’s like having end to end utes stretched from Sydney to Brisbane following the coastline.”
Crystal Humphreys and Heidi Eijkman are organising the clean up at Wingham's Chrissy Gollan Park
“We both have two young kids, and we think it’s important to teach them right from wrong. It’s an extension of what they have been learning in preschool about rubbish and recycling,” Crystal said.
“It gets you out of the house and away from the telly, too!” Heidi said.
“And it’s a great way to bring the community together and meet new people.”
“Come and help as long as you want,” Crystal said.
“Bring a hat, a drink, and a smile and enjoy the feeling of knowing that your helping to make a difference in our community.”
