Essery, 14, smashed 24 boundaries and seven sixes before he was dismissed by a spectacular one handed catch on the boundary.
Wingham made 320 and won the match comfortably to progress to the next round of the State-wide competition.
This is his second century of the season. He made his maiden ton in January when playing for Mid North Coast under 15s in a representative carnival in Maitland. Essery later represented North Coast in the Bradman Shield, the most prestigious competition for under 16 sides in Country NSW.
Essery was a member of the winning Manning under 19s side in the Mid North Coast inter-district final last Sunday at Port Macquarie while he also plays first grade for Wingham. He captains Wingham’s under 16s side and his goal is to score a century while playing for a Wingham club team.
His dad, Matt, is the Wingham first grade captain.
