The man checked his entry following the draw and contacted NSW Lotteries so they could verify his winning entry and officially confirm the exciting news.
When speaking with a NSW Lotteries official, the man admitted he was a little hungover from celebrating the win, but excited by what it meant for his family.
“I’m bloody hungover. I’m real happy. This is very good. This is fantastic,” he said.
“It hasn’t sunk in yet and I don’t think it will for quite a while. I just can’t believe it!
“It’s going to make that bank account look bloody good I can tell you!”
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, said he was a regular Lotto player who usually registered his entries to his Players Club card but decided at the last minute to buy an additional unregistered 50-game QuickPick for Saturday Lotto’s Superdraw.
“I play weekly and I have a Players Club card, but with this one I just waked in on Saturday and got this QuickPick randomly. I thought ‘Why not?’.”
The man said he didn’t previously think Bulahdelah was a “lucky” town, but said with two division one wins during the past two weeks he had changed his mind.
He said he planned to use the windfall to pay off the family home and maybe even buy each of his children a car.
“We’ve got no big plans yet, but I’m really excited,” he said.
The winner purchased his entry from Bulahdelah Newsagency, 75 Stroud Street, Bulahdelah.
Bulahdelah Newsagency owner Suzanne Chick said it was fantastic that another local had won division one.
“It’s someone’s dream come true!” she said.
“We’ve got a big sign out the front and balloons to celebrate. This is only a small town so people are really talking.
“It’s nice to think that a little place like ours can do two wins in a fortnight!
“We’re waiting to do the hat trick! We think we’ve got one more in us!”
